Welcome Kapil and thanks for quoting me! I think you are spot on with your comments regarding Mumbai and Jaipur.

I have no hopes whatsoever for Mumbai (my wife will hate me for saying that) because I don't see a will in the people and leaders of Mumbai to improve their city. Just like the New Yorkers, Mumbaiites (or is it Mumbaiikers?) are too smug in their own make believe world that their city is the best in the world and you either love it or hate it but you don't need to improve it. During my arguments with friends and relatives in Mumbai, they'd repeat that Mumbai is a world class city with world class facilities and back up their point with facts like, "you now get everything here", or, "we have now have world class malls" or "we have the best pubs" as if quality of life means buying brands during the day and drinking imported liquors during night. Even a city like New York has managed to have open spaces, parks and clean side-walks and has excellent public transportation system.

In today's 24 hr news cycles, hype often overcomes reality and just like everyone spent no time in declaring the Indian test team a world class team after they defeated South Africa recently in the first test match, Mumbaiites waste no time in declaring that their city is world class at the opening of every new mall. Sorry guys - not happening. For starters, try covering the open sewer that assaults one's nostrils as one enters the "queen of the suburbs", Bandra and for Mumbai's sake, get a reality check.
