and speaking of exciting and inspiring literature, Vikas : nobody in the Class of 93 at St Anselm's Ajmer would forget your social contribution as the class' librarian with loads of much-sought-after human digests.

On a serious note, I do believe some of these authors were really the first introduction that we had to the real emotions of humnakind- portrayed in however an unreal world.

Can't say much about Mr. Harold Robbins since I've not read any of his novels (hanging my head in shame!), but wow Mr. Sheldon. All those novels with such sexy, articulate and ruthless female leads. Your heroines along with the sexy ladies of Beverly Hills 90210 were integral part of the wet dreams of many an Indian youth, including yours truly.

On that note Kapil, I'd like to give a very honorable mention to Beverly Hills 90210 in forming an image of the US that was all Caucasian white, on roller blades with drive-in movies where you could make out endlessly. I guess during the same period, both Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar were watching it too, leading to those "inspired" college sets in their movies (as someone famously set - those people even sweat in a sexy way!).

Good tribute!
