I couldn't speak to whether its a tolerant strain of Hinduism or just society as a whole saying enough of this crap, especially where somehow valentine's is non-indian but violence in the name of Ram is made so very Indian. Definitely a very Gandhian response of shaming the aggressors into submission or at least a temporary retreat.
