National Public Radio

Being a political junkie I am always on the lookout for interesting articles to read, TV shows to watch or radio programs to listen to. While I was in Chicago – I was an ardent listener of AM 780 and even though it rarely provided any editorial commentary it was at least a 24 hour live news program. In the absence of cable TV – I thought it was pretty good and provided me with lots of information during my first US presidential campaign in 2000.
Later – I got a job and got myself cable TV and became an ardent fan of news night by Aaron Brown on CNN and for sometime thought that it was the best thing that ever happened to political analysis. Strange as it might seem – three years in the US and I was still unaware of the National Public Radio (NPR). I got to know about it through sheer luck. An alarm radio in a hotel room was tuned to the local NPR station and I woke up to the most incisive political commentary and news I’d ever heard. Here are some of my favorite programs on NPR. All these programs can be heard on a local NPR station in your city or via the web.

  1. On Point
  2. Here On Earth
  3. Talk of The Nation
